An application user interface (UI) is the part of a software program that the user sees and interacts with. It includes all elements on the screen and in various parts of the window. Some common types of user interfaces are:

Graphical User Interface (GUI) – A graphical user interface, or GUI, is a type of computer interface that uses graphical elements such as icons and menus. These graphical elements are made up of objects called widgets. A widget has a label, which describes what it does; an icon, which represents its function; and one or more properties that describe how it looks. GUIs can be built with an object-oriented programming language like C++ or Java.

Command Line UI – Command line interfaces (CLIs) allow users to interact with computers through a text-based interface rather than through graphical images on the screen. The CLI reads commands from input devices such as keyboards and mice and sends them to operating systems to perform tasks such as starting applications or opening files.
